Fished the Inshore Classic Open (www.redfishaction.com) out of Wrightsville beach. Fished with friend Gary Pollard who has recently purchased a 22 pathfinder. Our plan was to check out and then run back home and fish the places we knew best. Almost every other boat went north some all of the way back up to Swansboro. The weather was great and we got back in about 40 minutes.
I knew the fish were fired up offshore but it had been a while since I had fished inshore. They were biting allright ended up with 16 redfish, 6 flounder, 1 speck and even a black drum on a spinner bait... Most of the reds were small but really aggressive.
Finished 5th in the tournament overall and had a great time. Well run tournament and really nice people running the tournament- I hope they will come back and have one in our area again- maybe just not on US Open Tournament weekend!
