Picked up Todd Capitano, his daughter Kate, and son Jay from Bald Head Island to try and catch some inshore species... We had been waiting for the wind to lay down all week to go offshore fish but it blew SW all week, so we just hit the protected bays and creeks in the flats boat...
Those of you who have fished with me have probably heard the story about the guy who dove in after a rod that got pulled over by a redfish- Todd is the guy... and not only did he save the rod he handed it back to Kate and she landed the red!
We made the first stop and caught a couple of flounder and 2 small reds and one nice size red maybe 20 inches... The second stop we found the 20" reds hungry!!! Kate and Jay even got a couple of doubles... At then end of the morning we had caught and released 13 red fish, 4 flounder and two nice specks.
It was a really good day fishing and great to have these guys on board again... And this year no rods went overboard but two kids arms were tide from fighting redfish!!!
Jay also won the bet from his dad and I that he would not bite a mullet minnow in half! It cost Todd an ice cream sundae... This kid may be on the deadlest catch one day!
