Had John & Dave on board today and the quest was for an amberjack on the fly.  We have tried to take this trip before and been weathered out or had boat problems!  The weather was perfect- we got to the wreck and the bait was everywhere- Dave hooked a 20 pound cuda right away and got about 2 good jumps before he broke off.  The amberjacks did not want to bite!  Maybe the moon of the abundance of bait - they would simply come up to the fly take a look and almost even nose the fly -then rufuse it.  Still gets your heart pumping when that big shadow comes up from the deep and chases the fly right to the boat!  We tried everything but it was just one of those days they were not goin gto take a fly...

Ran out to the tower to see if anything was happening there- no jacks around- John caught a vermillion snapper on the fly then we all decided to go and try a catch a couple of grouper for dinner.  We broke a few off then caught a couple of nice red grouper for the grill.  It was on of the nicest days in the ocean of the year- lake like conditions!
