Had a night tarpon/shark trip planned with Dave(staying over at bald Head Island) and his two sons but the wind was blowing a gale! I called Dave and told him it was way too rough to be out after dark- so we decided to make it a late afternoon trip and we would try to hide from the wind and try from some red drum, trout and flounder.
Picked these guys up at 4:00 PM and we took off- Aboard was Dave, his sons Brenden(17) and Nate (15). We started off with Nate catching 2 reds followed up by a nice flounder and a big speck. And they informed me Nate didn't even want to go.
We moved around and then found some really big redfish. One Brenden hooked came as close as I have ever witnessed to spooling a Shimano 4000 reel. I pulled anchor and chased him down- when we started after him we could see the silver on the reel spool. Ended up with 5-6 reds 3 flounder and one 3 pound speck.
I think these guys had a good time- I know I did- hope to see them next year...
