8/4/07 Trout, Flounder, Blacktip, and ladyfish...

Bob Franz and I had talked earlier in the week and he wanted to put his son on some big fish. I figured a few amberjacks and a couple of grouper might do the trick. The weather forecast looked good- until of course we got up to go! IT WAS ROUGH! We went to plan "B"
Fished 1/2 day in the morning- Bob caught a really nice speck (short of the 4 pound- citation mark-but a really nice fish-3.5 pounds).
The wind finally calmed down a little later in the morning- caught a really nice flounder and some bluefish. Hooked a couple of big critters- not sure if they were big drum of what- but almost spooled the 10 pound test spinning reels.
We decided to try some tarpon/shark fishing late in the afternoon- We caught one really nice blacktip, and had a couple of other bites but it was pretty slow.
Found a school of ladyfish and the guys had a good time catching them on top water, jerk baits, jigs. I think we managed about 4 to the side of the boat and had twice that many break off. If you have not caught one you have to at least get one to hit a top water bait- the bite is incredible!
