Had Todd Capatino, his daughter Kate (9) and son Jay (7) aboard today.  The wind has beed brutal this week but it died out enough to let us get out this morning.  We started off with some really big trout- Kate caught the first fish (and the largest).  Jay was not far behind in getting in on the action.  Todd and I baited hooks fast and furiously for about 2 hours!  Ended up with 7-8 nice trout- they kept 3 for dinner and the rest were released. Also plenty of small blues, pinfish, and croakers made for a bite every cast!

We decided to move to another spot and Todd scored with a huge 7 pound sheepshead.  Jay also caught a sheephead as well.

Everyone was worn out but we made one more stop on the way back to Bald Head Island- and on the very last bait in the live well- Kate hooked what ended up being a beautiful redfish over five pounds.

Here's the kicker- the fish actually pulled the rod out of her hands while she was fighting it and without hesitation her dad jumped in to save the rod, reel, and the fish.  Camera, wallet and all- he jumped in and got to the rod and swam it back to the boat!  We handed it off to Kate and Todd climbed back in the boat.  One of the coolest things I have ever witnessed- no one said a thing it happened so fast there was literally a 2 second window before the rod sank and Todd didn't think twice- he was on it!!!  The guy gets my vote for father of the year hands down.

We all had a great time- I can't wait to see these guys again soon!

The one that DIDN'T get away- thanks to Todd!
