Big Red on the fly

Couldn't stand it any longer yesterday had to go... Found one school of reds and they were tough to get to bite. Ended us hooking two on a gulp and then landing one on the fly rod 25". The key was to move fly as slow as possible(really crawl it along the bottom) and the gulp spinning rod bites all came just casting to school and leaving grub in the middle of the fish. All of these fish were an impressive size class 22-30" fish. Did not get a chance to check out the flats behind Bald Head Island but did see one school on this side of the river- spooked before we could get a cast to them. Fish seemed to be feeding on micro bait so go as small as you can- 3" grub might be the best for spinning and really small clousers for the fly fisherman. Great weather as it is again today.
